Words we use

One agreed name for each thing, and every other spelling people use for it — so one ingredient is never counted twice under two names.

This is a library, not advice. No recommendation, no dose, no diagnosis, no ranking. We never ask about your symptoms, and nothing here is tailored to you.

A name written down is just that; a name we can match is one this site recognises when typed. Most of the big list is still the first kind.

The 6 kinds of thing we keep names for

Each kind is a fixed list. If what you type matches nothing on it, we say so rather than guessing at the nearest thing.

Why one name per thing

Every finding is filed under a name from these lists, never under whatever text was typed. That stops one thing being counted twice.

If a name is not on the list, we say so rather than swapping in the nearest thing. The same lists sit behind the partner API, and the findings filed under them are on any topic or any ingredient page.
